About the Program

The Financial Officer Recruitment and Development (FORD) program is a development program for entry-level finance professionals. Individuals in the program are supported to obtain their chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation.

In this highly competitive development program, participants have the opportunity to work in up to 3 different areas of finance, allowing them to gain the practical experience required for the CPA.

The program also consists of a series of activities and interactive sessions including:

  • Professional development sessions
  • Government finance training
  • Networking opportunities
  • Mentorship 

Program Eligibility

To qualify for FORD program, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be eligible for CPA's Professional Education Program (PEP) and
  • Have previous work experience in the federal government through student employment working in Financial Management or
  • Currently working in the public service

Program Experience

FORD program participants are taking the next steps needed to become a stronger financial leader. Each rotation should help deepen participants’ knowledge and provide them with competencies needed to obtain their CPA and become eligible for promotion.
